Just got three 20 day old Silkies. Any tips on socializing and hand training appreciated. Also plan to use them to hatch out my pekin duck eggs.

I love silkies! You will enjoy the silkie thread given above. I just hatched 14 babies in Dec. Kept 7. Blues, splash..dark and light splash. Going to be beauties..got them from someone on here!

There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

All silkies do not go broody. If they are from hatchery stock, it may have been bred out of them. Also it if very difficult to sex silkies with any certainty before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes NOT till they crow or lay eggs.
