Hello,
Complete newbie here needing guidance! I have a mallard hen who I had collected a dozen eggs from (She had been with a mallard until he disappeared-so I'm guessing the eggs are fertile, most of the ones we collected prior to this for cooking were). I had planned to set up a incubator using an aquarium when I had a hen go broody. I ended up sticking the eggs under her last Wednesday night. Today would be day 5 so I candled the eggs. Two eggs were damaged. One has definite veining and an embryo in it. You could see it's little heart beating (it was pretty darn awesome!). However, there is nothing in the others. The air sacks are increasing in size but all you see is the shadow of the yolk. Am I missing something or are these no good?
At what point do I get rid of them? There is one egg that has a disk int it at one end of the yolk if that makes any sense... I could be seeing things but hubby saw it also. Any advise is appreciated.
