It's been almost 6 months since i've introduced a pair of young female ducks to my mature drake-hen couple. 6 months later, the hen still occasionally chargse at them, and the drake has plucked both of the back of theiir necks clean of feathers, and keeps them isolated a good distance away, wether inside or outside their run.

Is there anything I can do to help these ducks merge together into a single flock? I don't know why, but I expected it to happen naturally. Does it ever?

Hello......

What breeds are these Ducks?.....You can separate the Drake for a week or so?....Or separate the Hen....The Drake is protecting his Hen from the other two and the Hen is top Hen and does not want to lose her position....If you change things up for a week or so the other two will have an easier time getting accepted.....Plus spring is on its way and Hormones will kick in and things might calm down on their own if he decides to breed the other two Hens?.....

Best of luck

Cheers!

The Drake is Rouen, head hen is Crested. The newbies are a mix. Unfortunately I only have one caged run, about 6 x 18 ft, and they all need to be in there at night due to owls and raccoons in the area. I may have to just divide the run in half, thanks

That's always a Pickle....Could you put the Drake in a large crate in your garage for the night....?....And then free range them separately ?.......Not sure of your set up or if you have a place to put him?

Best wishes...:)

Cheers!
