Just have to share this as I'm thrilled with my new backyard-
I'm at the end of my first year with chickens, all without a fenced in yard and no real way to let them out of their enclosed run due to neighbors, dogs, predation, etc. So, we've been saving, saving, saving to get the yard fenced in and it FINALLY happened this week.
Today was coop cleaning day so I just left the door to the run open and my 3 hens had an absolute blast exploring every inch of the yard while I cleaned up. Better yet, my teenagers were able to get off their perch and down on the floor of the run and do a lot of exploring that they won't do when the big girls are there (integration has been a nightmare). I had a ton of fun watching them and they obviously thought today was the best day ever.
Now, if we can just do this when it isn't 30 degrees out we will be in business!
