Hello!

New to site and new to backyard chicken raising :) I am a native New York City gal transplanted to rural Virginia thanks to my husband. We purchased a home in the "country" with a little over 5 acres. Previous home to a horse breeder so we have riding rings and a huge 25 stall barn which was converted to a garage by the previous owner. Attached to the now garage is a chicken coop. so having 2 sons, my husband would like to introduce some "country life" by owning a few chickens. We are in the process of cleaning out the coop and sprucing up the hen house. I am excited but terrified since I don't have ANY experience raising chickens.

Any good start up pointers?
