Hi, if you saw my last thread about the chick with the crusty eye, this is the same chick.

When I asked about the minor damage around the chicks eye, I was given the advice to put non-pain killer Neosporin around the eye. I did just that, as careful as I could. Now, a couple days later, I checked on the chick again. I noticed that about half the eye had some sort of fizziness on it. Small, cloudy bubbles covered half the eye. I am concerned that I unintentionally put a small amount of Neosporin on the eye. Is that the case? I am probably overreacting to this situation, but it seems very strange.

Has anyone seen this before? I am pretty sure that I will get suggestions to flush the eye with saline, but I am just making sure.
Thanks for any input.

The Neosporin is harmless in the eye. That isn't the cause of the bubbling. There is something irritating the eye. Simply flushing the eye with saline artificial tears should help.

If that doesn't stop the bubbling, you may be dealing with an eye infection. Neosporin isn't strong enough for an eye infection, but you can try putting it in the eye. If you don't feel comfortable using it in the chick's eye, then ask a vet for an ophthalmic antibiotic ointment. Or call around to your feed stores and see if they carry some without a prescription.
