Bandaid stuck in silkie fluff

I am brand new to this forum and to chickens in general. I just received 4 baby chicks.1 2 day old black silkie, 1 day old white silkie and 2 5 day old polish. My white silkie and a few other white silkies from same batch which my friend got were still a bit wet when the lady boxed them up for us. She got home with our chicks and most of the white silkies have splay leg. I tried the bandaid trick on mine and it squirmed after I got the bandaid on 1 leg and now the bandaid is stuck in some of the under "fluff" and the fluff on the other leg. How do I get this bandaid off?
 
I know the chick's survival chance is low as it is and I really want to try to save it. Will clipping fluff hinder my baby?

I'd appreciate any and all help. The lady is replacing the chicks and wants to put these down. I'm determined to try my best to save this one regardless.

! Great to have you in our flock! I don't know much about silkies but the suggestion about trimming off a little of the fluff seems reasonable. Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!
 
Don't put it down! Splay legs can be saved! Have you gotten the bandaid off? I think cutting it off is the best way to get it off, just make sure you don't cut the skin! Istead of using a band aid try using string or look up other ways to do it. Make sure the surface they are on isn't slippery, their legs splay out if they can't get a good enough grip on the ground.

I always have my chicks on wood shavings. Some people don't because they don't want the chicks to eat it, but if mine ever have it hasn't hurt them and they learn it's not very tasty.
