Hello i am new to chickens. I do not have any chickens at the moment, but have started building the pen and have found some great ideas on here. Thanks for all the info on here. Will definitely be using this site more and more.

Nice to meet you Paul, Welcome to Backyard chickens. Glad you joined the flock

Welcome Paul,
I recently joined too and there's so much great information and help from others on this site! I've even seen INSTANT responses to members with dire mortality questions - so really a responsive and helpful group here.

Like you, I haven't picked up my spring chicks yet, as I've been working on getting the coop and run built and secured from predators. Such fun!
1 day old chicks arrive at my local feed store weekly, but I'm waiting until April when I can get the breeds I want: Austrias, Americaunas, Barred Rocks, and Buff Orps. - all nice chickens.
In my house I have stock tanks for bath tubs, so I set up a brooder area in one of them. This ought to work well.
Best of luck with your project. We'll both/all look forward to happy, healthy hens and great eggs!

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive or your coop build, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
