Hi! My niece is wanting to breed chickens, but doesn't know what breed. She wants to breed Porcelain D'uccles, but she wants a breed that people will buy eggs, chicks, and adult birds. She really wants ones that are friendly, pretty, and easy to breed, since she's beginning.

It really depends on what she's wanting to do. There are several breeds in high demand. People like pretty chickens, like lavender Orpington, wyandotte, flower hens, barnevelders, etc. I've never heard of a porcelain duccle but maybe. If that's what she likes then that's what she should get. Other chickens that can be in demand are like your marans for the dark chocolate eggs or amerucana/ee for the greenish blue, cream legbar for the blue eggs. I would probably raise cream legbar myself if I really wanted to sell some because you can get 30 dollars a chick fairy easy and then throw a few white leghorns in the mix for eating eggs. Eggs will be different colors so you can tell

Thanks! I'll tell her the breeds you mentioned!
