Why is my duck laying so many eggs?

I have a mallard duck and a dark cream color one that's male I got check there pin to clean it out but I haven't recently because I let them free roam (their wings are clipped) I checked there little house and fount many eggs now remover I only have one female the other is male I could tell because he is dominant and mates with her often there is at least 40 to 50 eggs is this normal none of the eggs are over 1 month old I don't think there fertil but this seems like a large amount is it? I'm no expert so that's why I came here there is a photo of the eggs

Ducks lay eggs just like chickens do. If the duck doesn't go broody, meaning she doesn't have the hormonal changes necessary to convince her to set on the eggs to attempt to hatch them, she will continue to lay regularly, at least through the breeding season and possibly beyond. Given the piles and piles of eggs in their house, I would remove them and continue removing them daily until she decides to set on them. Eventually, the eggs left as they are will rot, inevitably they will break and you will have a REAL mess then. :) Duck eggs are great to eat and especially to bake with!
 
Well see I don't know for Sure but I went to pick the female up yesterday day and he started pecking my leg like pinching it and wouldn't stop till I put her down and also I have them a pretty big kiddo pool because it's only 2 they don't need a huge pond but he was getting on her back and holding her head down with his beak but he may be we had a male mallard 2 months ago and he killed it by holding it down in the water and Plus the male mallard had a foot problem we where trying to take care of so he limped to one side so he could easily be drowned more than other ducks and in any way I'm not a professional so I don't know what to think and also thanks I seen this website on a YouTube video about chickens and I love it already I will also provide a picture of the ducks this was a 2 months ago so their pool was small but I got them a bigger one now

It's a wonder that rats and snakes didn't discover that mountain of eggs. I would definitely keep that cleaned out. Drakes do prefer to breed on water, and usually any buddies will join in. Result drowned hen. If that happens, I would empty their pool or get rid of all drakes. Females can do fine by themselves, although they would not produce fertile eggs.
