Hello, I have been reading this site for months, preparing for our first foray into chickenville. We got our baby birds yesterday: 1 speckled sussex, 1 welsummer, 1 buff orpington, and 1 mystery. I was told it's an ameraucana but I'm gathering that's probably not the case. Thank you in advance for tolerating my questions and comments. Happy to be here!

Greetings from Kansas, djunafarms, and :welcome! It's great to have you in our community! Happy you have found BYC useful! You are doing it right - research first, then take the plunge! If you'd like to chat with some of your in state poultry neighbors, find your state thread here and say howdy: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread

Welcome and Congratulations!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Your last one is probably an Easter Egger, and there is nothing wrong with that. Glad you joined the Backyard Chickens flock

Haha, I have already experienced the slow back-away. Good to know I'll be understood here!

Thanks! Yes, I have several questions about what breed this chick is exactly. As soon as I figure out where the appropriate section of this website is, I plan to ask for input. Doesn't really matter, though, we already love her! She is the most hilarious of the bunch.
