Hello everyone, I'm Jenny from Southeastern Ga. My husband is in the Navy and we are finishing out his Naval career over the next year and a half and looking forward to relocating to an area with a LOT more land. Right now I have 2 dogs, 2 potbelly pigs, a rabbit, tons of fish (koi pond and aquaponic pond setup) and as of yesterday 2 (I think) Pekin ducks! I recently had the joy of raising some chickens for a friend until they were old enough to go out into the coop at his house. My kids and I loved it and got attached to the little buggers. Yesterday my "no more animals" husband brought me home 2 baby ducks. I cried I was so excited. I lurked this board before the chickens and after getting them and it was a wealth of information for me. I decided to post and introduce myself because I have a feeling I'm going to have a ton of questions!!! I don't know how much different raising ducklings is from raising chicks and I love these two already. I'd also appreciate any tips on how to get them to bond to you. I had them outside yesterday while my husband set up the bin for them and heat lamp and all and they loved being in the grass but if one of my pigs made a noise they came running to me to hide under my chin because I was laying on my belly on the ground. <3

Looking forward to chatting with everyone more soon! Here's a picture of me right after he handed me my babies. Excuse the crying face.

Great to have another poultry lover! They are cute!!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, and the extra links! Awww, that makes me feel good that them running to me means they see me as mama. I haven't had them 24 hours and I am head over heels. They're so funny when they stand and flap their nonexistant nubby little wings!

Welcome!

As you have already received some links to great starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
