I put the chicks out in their run, which is covered, and attached to the coop which I left the door open to, today. I knew it was possible that it would rain, and offered to bring the 3 chickens inside if they wanted to come in (it was getting dark outside). One was willing to come in but the other 2 wanted to stay out. So, I left them out and went out to do errands. While I was out, it started pouring and even sounded like a hailstorm while I was in the car. I worried about the 2 chickens left in the run. I was hoping they would be smart enough to go into the coop when it was raining so hard.
When I got home, I checked on them, and they were not in the coop but under the coop. One of them looked like she got wet, but they were totally content to just stay out there in the rain.
My question is, is it ok for them to be wet and in the wind? They are about 5 weeks old now. I don't want them to be sick from the rainstorm if they are not ready to handle it yet. Should I go in there and pull them out and put them back in the tub where the heat lamp is? Thanks.
I don't know if they are 'fully feathered' or not yet. They look a lot different than when I bought them a month ago.

I would not ask my 5 week old chicks if they wanted to stay out or not---LOL. I would want them protected at night and not getting wet---for sure at that age---Good Luck
