Is this a guinea egg( the dark all round town one)

I don't know...what other species are laying eggs, and where, and are they confined? Our guineas laid very light colored eggs. We had several colors of guineas. Here's a pic taken when we discovered they had been using this tub for a nest...they were free range and we rarely found the nests until they were loaded with eggs and too late for us to use. And this from 5 guineas. We don't have guineas any more tho.

Not likely but I suspect that if you crack it that it won't even have a yolk. It looks like a "fart" egg to me. I got one similar in size and appearance from one of my turkeys yesterday. Any kind of poultry can lay such an egg but even then the egg still tends to have the normal shape that a particular species of poultry will normally lay.

Guinea eggs ARE very hard to crack. And they are much smaller than chicken eggs.
