I got some chicks and they are three days old now but the chubby one can not keep her legs under her and sleeps most of the time. the other chicks will not leave her side and fallow us when we feed her so they must know something is wrong. we are trying electrolyte water mixed with chick food as well as helping her walk. is their anything else that we can do to help her?

Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos?

You mention she can't keep her legs under her - are her legs splayed or spraddled?

You may need to hobble her legs to help her walk. Offer her some poultry vitamins that contain Vitamin B2(Riboflavin) or you can crush a human B-Complex vitamin and add it to her chick starter. Giving wet feed is fine - chicks usually love it.

Here's a good article with photos on how to treat splay/spraddle leg:

Thank you for your replies! Despite our best efforts to make her better, she ended up not making it. At first, she was eager to eat, but ended up losing interest in that as well. I think there were more things wrong that were not as obvious. The other chicks in the batch, however, are doing great and thriving!
