It must look steeper than it is, in the picture. Both ramps sit at a 45 degree angle. The bottom one goes to the ground. We made our coops out of a kids playhouse swingset. It had a 6 x 6 playhouse built and was connected by bridge to another platform that had a slide. We removed the slide and built another 4 x 6 coop using the platform we framed the 8 feet between and made it a covered run. We are running the ramp the same way on the other side and should have a foot of ground space between the two. It keeps all of the ramps along the back wall of the coop. They will walk up & down with a treat as incentive, the coops not completed inside yet so for now it's just field trips to the pen to forage & roam.
Going up a ramp is much easier than coming down.
They can scramble up a near vertical surface given some toe holds, but they won't walk down it.
Steep ramps in tight spaces can lead to flying down and crashing into walls. Just sayin'.
