I have 3 chicks and they are terrified if they are not with each other all the time. This is making it very hard to hold them. I was carrying around all 3 but they are bigger now and can only hold 2. Any suggestions on how to handle 3 chicks who can't be without each other? They all scream their heads off, I feel horrible separating them

It would help to know how old they are.

Chicks two weeks and under are extremely dependent on being with other chicks for security. Between two weeks and four weeks, they are becoming independent. By the time they turn four weeks, they should not be going into a big panic when finding themselves alone, but they will still send out calls as to the whereabouts of the others if they get separated.

They're flock animals, and they are almost always checking to see that the others are somewhere within view. Their safety depends on it, even after they grow to adulthood.

This is very helpful thank you! They are 1 week old so this makes sense.
