How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We typically get a dozen a day from the big coop a day, and 3/four from my silkie coop depending on whether or not I get to the eggs before my hen who eats eggs.

Btw, any advice on how to STOP a hen from eating eggs?
I've read that you can blow an egg empty, refill it with yellow mustard and let the chicken attempt to eat it. I don't know if it works, though.
Roll away nest boxes are another option.

All seven girls each laid an egg this morning. One of the hens always lays elongated eggs, and another pops out jumbo eggs regularly.

I turned four of them into breakfast with some of my homemade breakfast sausage. Sausage dipped in runny egg yolks. Yum!

Golf balls or ceramic eggs in the nest, and gather the real eggs frequently. A bent beak is a convincing argument against pecking eggs! 🤣

I got 13 today. I'm so happy my Sapphire Gem pullets and now my Prairie Bluebell Egger pullets are all starting to lay. Well, some of each, at least. The Eggers, who lay beautiful blue eggs, are about three weeks behind the Gems, who lay brown. The Eggers' eggs are still pretty small.

I recently drove down to Alabama and bought 16 (!) lavender EE chicks. Dey so cuuuute! They should start laying in September, I think ...
