How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Sixteen out of twenty-one hens today, but two of the hens are broody and don't count. Yesterday I finally managed to find a hidden guinea nest, and it's obvious a couple of my chickens have been making use of it as well. I don't feel like braving the ticks and brambles on a daily trek for those eggs.

I can identify each chicken easily by voice. It seems my top hen mimics my tones. Have you had this experience? She follows me everywhere and does call outs with me. That’s so neat that you can identify hens of the same age and breed by voice. I always wondered if I’d be able to tell my girls apart if I got more than one of each breed, so I went with all different breeds to be sure.

I recently ordered another Dominique though, and I’m excited to see how different the two of them are in personality, behavior, voice and appearance. I wonder if she’ll be as much of a rascal as Juin is, or as cuddly. I hope they become fast friends :)

19 eggs today including 3 silkie eggs and one under Butterscotch (not to be confused with Buttercup).
