Do you need to cut ducks nails?

Do you need to clip their nails? My six ducks are always walking aroung on my driveway half concrete half asfault..So they dont seem long..So I have never cut them...Just wondering? Thanks
 
my ducks spend so much time inside their nails get very long, esp when they are eating lots of calcium (for laying). I actually use pedipaws on them. Since they are so tame they got used to it quickly. Most poeple here use dremel tools i believe
 
My pens all have pea gravel in them, but I still have to trim toenails a lot! I keep a pair of pet nail clippers in my pocket, and if I see one that needs a trim, I just grab them and give them a manicure.

The only duck whose claws I clip are those of a crippled duck whos claws never touch the ground enough to wear down. Normally you won't have to clip nails, but if you do, be careful not to cut into the quick. Contact with the ground and poo can cause nasty infections.
 
Thanks everyone..I didnt think I had to cut them as they do not look long or anything..I had just read some where on the internet you had to cut them all the time..I look at them every day and their nails look fine...Unlike my dog whos seems too grow over night...LOL
 
I was reading and all thats mentioned is ducks what about ducklings? I have 2 week old duckling who are inside nabies and forever will be. Would it be safe to trim their nails as they love snuggles but my skin doesnt like the nails lol any help would be so appeeciated

I usually don't trim mine, I just deal with the scratches. When they DO get too long or they are particularly sharp I file them to the appropriate length and that usually helps minimize the damage the ducklings do.

Thank yoou so much :) I was thinking filing may be best as it would just mimic normal wear and tear from the ground
 
I tried using nail clippers on my duck after seeing someone who said it was ok in this thread, it started to bleed I think we cut it too short. How can I make sure it doesn't become infected?
