Frozen eggs hatching

That is great! What an experiment!!

There is a book on avian embryology which I think is called avian embryology actually, which heat and cold storage egg experiments have been done with respect to hatchability. They held eggs between -20 to 85F for x amount of time and saw what if anything hatched and recorded muations.

In general, the hatchability is a ratio of temperature and duration spent, but anything at the extremes generally leads to defects early in development and thus quitters.

They're very much worth eating. Once thawed, they're no different than unfrozen eggs. As a matter of fact, we've had so many egg customers in the last month or so-- all we've gotten to eat are the very cold/frozen, or cracked eggs

My eggs have been frozen when I collect them from my girls. I wondered if they would hatch after being frozen, and then thawed. I know they were frozen especially with temps of -25 to -30 below. So far I have 6 little fuzzy butts from them. All seem to be fine, and running around in the brooder.

That is great to know! Thanks! How long were the eggs frozen for?

Hi I was reading your post about frozen egg and hutching and you described that you have some success. I have question all was well ?

I am asking this because I have 3chickes,producing fertile eggs, and I have incubator for60 eggs.
Is it going to bee sutabilet to freeze everyday 3 eggs until I have enough for incubator ?
Are they going to hatch.

Also bought book and I am sending you screenshot, but did not found about freezeing. I did not yet read whole book but on PDF document could not find result matching search for freezing or frozen egg... It will take me month to read it whole...

I've hatched several eggs that have been frozen when gathered. I let them set inside for a few days, then incubate as usual.
Seem to hatch at a good percentage with good results.

I have hatched eggs before that had gotten cool during the incubation period. They all turned out to be drakes. I read somewhere that you will end up with drakes if this happens. Did you get any hens?
