Newbie: Help please! Clutch of duck eggs, still air incubator...

Hello,

I'm new to this site and found you by google. Any help would be great!!

My issue:

I have 3 Khaki Campbell hens and 1 drake. There is a clutch of 15 eggs in their nest. I was thinking of buying a still incubator with the auto egg turner from tractor supply (because I don't want the eggs to go bad). I wanted to get the Hovabator genesis with the turbofan. But it will take GQF 2-3 weeks for delivery.

What do you think I can do? I don't want the eggs to go bad. The eggs are about 7-10 days old, but, they are laying more everyday. Will these eggs hatch? None of the ducks are "broody" (was hoping after a dozen one of them would sit on them).

Does the still air incubator plus auto egg turner have a good hatch rate? Or, should I just get the Hovabator Genesis?

What can I do fo them eggs to hatch?

So with that many eggs in the nest no mama duck has decided to sit on them?

Once mine got a nest of about 10-12 they would begin to sit. If they are young, maybe that is why no one has decided to sit on them.

Hatching duck eggs in an old Hovabator-no turner-no fan-was our introduction to the incredibly fun (and slightly addicting) world of egg hatching.

Even as novices we had really great hatches with the duck eggs. I actually think duck eggs are more forgiving than hens eggs.

Have you tried anywhere else to get the incubator you want? I worry that you will regret not getting the incubator you want if you get the one that is available to hatch these eggs.

Or, you could not worry about these eggs and get the incubator you want and set fresh eggs.

If you won't be disappointed later, I'd say go ahead and get it and set these eggs!!!

I ordered a Genesis from Cutler Supply on Sunday night and received it on Thursday AM, plus the price was right. If you call them first thing in the AM, they often can get it out the same day. They are in Michigan.

I love Cutler!!! That's what I would do. I believe in the fan!

Well, if you can get the fan later and it has a turner in it....I'd say "What are you waiting for? Go get your incubator!"

Using our old, still air incubator, and tons of user error...we have had some excellent hatches.

I don't think there is much to lose and have a whole lot to gain.

If you get these eggs set, keep us posted, I want to know how you do!

Well, if I were to get a still air incubator, put eggs in, could I install the fan later in the days? What small fans do they sell at radioshack that would work? So sorry, just don't want my eggs to go bad.
 
i have a LG still air, no turner no fan. My duck hatch was a 90%. I used the egg carton to turn them back and forth. Humidity was hard to keep up but i added extra water pans.

P.S. I have a duck egg due next week. Wanna guess about its age??? I wrote the date on it...
3/11..... stored it in the fridge (people say u arent supposed to). annnddddd sure enough ive got a fertile swimming baby duck due next weekend.....
 
I noticed the LG = Little Giant, and many people have problems with it. That's the one I was thinking of getting.... Really, are these things that bad??
