Rats, I wish I'd seen this sooner! My husband teaches Tech. Ed. His 8th grade class does an egg drop contest every year. But he's out at band rehearsal and won't be able to get any info. to you until tomorrow at the soonest!!! Sorry!

I do this one pretty often with the class and my scouts. One of the more innovative ones was an egg in a balloon, inside a balloon in another balloon,,, too hard but worked! Remember, if the egg can move inside it can break. It needs to be held firmly, and packed very well. I've seen several different experiments work, but when the egg was loose inside a box with peanut packing or something it always went through the packing and hit ground with the box. If you secure it inside another smaller box with packing material where it can't move around then put the smaller box in a large box with packing peanuts the smaller box won't be able to move through the packing peanuts because of the size and shape.
Egg drop contests can be a lot of fun.
