Someone told me strawberry tops are toxic to chickens?????

Any truth to the whole strawberry top (the green leafy part) being toxic to chickens...

Mine dont like strawberries regardless but I am curious now.

I did some searches and didnt find an answer.

I also couldnt find strawberries on the treat chart.

Um, I think someone is pulling your leg. Mine love anykind of fruit and tops of tomatoes, strawberries and apples aren't a problem. I don't feed them apple seeds but I did recently discover a watermelon seed in my egg yolk. Kinda funny.

i have fed mine strawberries before they love em if they were toxic to them i think they would be dead by now

Sounds like another one of those old wives tales floating around...
There is nothing wrong with feeding chickens strawberries. They are perfectly safe.

Mine eat the wild strawberries, tops, fruit and entire plant.
Thus they cut off their noses to spite their face. There won't be any wild strawberries for them this year.
P.S. Yes I know chickens don't have "noses".

LOL! Glad they aren't a problem, mine love them and it makes me feel okay about being lazy and whacking the strawberry tops pretty big for us if I think the chick-chicks will enjoy them
