I Watched Dirty jobs and saw how the hatcheries do everything with there chicks and how they fullfill there orders.
That got me wondering...What happens to all the unsold birds?
I imagine there would be alot of leftover males.
Someone once told me they incinerated them? Is that awful fate true?

I am pretty sure all the little fella's get the axe!!

The exoctics and rare breeds are raised for "started birds" and sold off for a good deal of money.

Many times local people will go to the hatcheries and receive male chicks for free and the hatcheries use the unwanted birds as "packing peanuts" for thier paid deliveries.

I got SEVEN male dominics with my FIVE French Guineas this year.

The boys are in the nursery and they will be sold at a local auction once they get 10 to 12 weeks old.

The hatcheries try to be as humane as possible as thier "fowl crops" for each year can fluctuate a good deal.
