Yes, I nearly joined them when I first started, I got a handbook in the post from them.
I was going to join but it was hard as I have my own insurance policy in Australia.
Perhaps I should get back on there and try and join as an associate if they have that type of membership.
They really are professional and have great marketing ideas.
I may even start up an Australian Association here so we can all get together and get bulk insurance.
Have fun.
I would even charge $10 per visit, as you are still doing all the things an adult would do.
Hi Hope, Im glad you enjoy petsitting too.
The first job is always scary, now ive seen it all!!!
My first client was a Vet, I nearly had a heart failure! but she was so lovely.
Ive done every animal except a snake and other exotics. Though I wouldnt hesitate to feed any animal.
My best hint is with guard dogs ~ either go through the house so they know you should be there~ not through the gate!!
Otherwise just slip their bowls under the gate and use a disposable bowl the next day.
Little dogs can be narky, I had one go for my jugular as I bent down to feed him!!I trust big dogs more as I can read them better.
I usually do about 15-18 households at Christmas.
The cost depends on the amouint of time needed to ensure they are all looked after properly.
I dont charge per head like some.
Each job is so different and entails other things as well.
For chickens I charge a standard call of $15 for 1 pen full.
$18 for 2 pens.
5 cats, roughly $22 and thats cheap, because most people here with 5 cats have it all set up so it doesnt take alot of mucking around.
The jobs with the most amount of work are budgies, mice, lizards, tortoises, hermit crabs, spiders, rats etc.
Puppies and cats are easy.
