As most of us are, I am looking for the BEST Thermometer for the money. This analog thermometer from the people who make Hovabator is $21.50 plus shipping from their website.

Have you used it? What do you think of it?

It is the one that they use for their "Cabinet Model" incubators.

Here's the picture from their website:

With a "sock", it is used as a "wet-bulb" hygrometer with which one can convert the reading to a % humidity using a chart.

What's your opinion? Has anyone experience with this item?

I have those in all of my GQF cabinet 'bators and hatchers. In fact one incubator has 2... one for dry and another for wet bulb temps.

I agree with Nancy in that they're very accurate, plus easy to read. Hey, I have "old" eyes!

THAT's very encouraging!

I'm thinking that I would be "better-off" to spend that little bit Xtra (compared to a WalMart "Accurite" digital) and go with this Analog thermometer that is VERY ACCURATE.

I could buy 3 or 4 of the digital ones for the same money......but I wouldn't know WHICH one was right (according to what I've read here on this Forum).

Leaning very heavily NOW toward THIS GQF Thermometer/Hygrometer.

THANK YOU ALL for your replies to my question!

I've been using a cheap 12 dollar wal-mart temp sensor. it has inside/outside temp and humidity in digital down to the 1/10th. It's been pretty accurate. i also turned the outside sensor into a fake egg sensor to let me know what the temp is inside the eggs. i have a manual thermo just to verify that the temp is right. i use a mouth thermo it has to be accurate.
However if you want to get away from the accurite then reptile thermos are really good. pet smart has a good deal on them.

I wanted to add to the previous message when it comes to the accurite. If you want it to function properly you have to modify it. All you have to do to get the outside temp sensor to work good is to take the sensor out of the silicon, clean in up then fold it into a piece of electrical tape. and it will function accurately. You could also get a plastic egg fill it with di-electric grease and stick the sensor in it and tape of the hole you stuck the sensor through to create a fake egg to put in the middle of your racks.
