I'm from a large family of 8,(I'm the youngest) so many different personalities & age differences. I have a brother who went in the AF when he turned 18 & off he went. Then there's my next oldest sister...

always bickering & down right fussy all the time.
My brother came back from overseas one Christmas & started a new tradition. He had a real fine present for her so pretty, bows & all.... She opened it up, come to find out it was a LOG... She was sooo mad, lol. Following Christmas'es she had got her share of coal, 5lbs. of sugar, more firewoood etc... He would always have another present for her... but she'd fall for it every Christmas, lol.

Gosh it's been 17 yrs. since we have all been together, when my mother died. Good thing really, cause we all still don't get along, even after we're grown up.
Sorry for rambling.. usually I'm in my corner being quiet.

Love it, I have an older sister that sounds much like yours. I would love to get her like that. Hmmmmm.....

One of my favorite Xmas's I showed up with white elephant gifts.
Just random bizarre stuff, stretch mark cream, books, a few "regifts" I was shocked at how much amusement & good natured fights went on for these mock gifts.

A couple of years ago a friend gave me a present which he "accidentally" dropped while handing it to me. All I heard was broken glass! Turns out he had put a false bottom in the box and put broken glass in it. The present itself was a t-shirt. I've since used the box to give presents to friends and I love the look on their faces when they hear their present "breaking"!

I used to put marbles and 10-penny nails in the gift boxes so that when recipients shook them they sounded like they'd been broken. Their were many relieved present-shakers come Christmas morning. Fun to watch their faces go from relieved to huffy as they realized they'd been had!

My parents were the worst! They would save empty candy boxes and use them to wrap our small gifts in. Nothing like opening the wrapping paper, eyes getting HUGE cuz ya got a box of mixed chocolates...only to open the box and find underwear.

I still use the "box trick" on people.

My step-brother always got my step-granny at the family dinners. The women would go to the kitchen to get the dessert, he'd slip out his partial plate dentures and place them in the sugar bowl. Step-granny would come back to the table with her cup of hot tea, proceed to add sugar and end up with Satch's "teeth" on her spoon. He did this yearly and got her every time. We still laugh til we cry over that one!

A mean prank... well on thieves or sadly good samaritans, is to wrap some bad yucky stuff up in a pretty box, such as dog gifts found on lawns, and put it on the top of your car and watch from a distance.

ramble on, its this time of year we should all reflect on the good memories, and btw you make the effort to bring everyone back together , even if for just a little while at a restaurant or something. you will know then that you tried! Best to you and yours and Merry Christmas!

My MIL did put coal in my BIL's stocking one year. Then there was the can of Barbasol shaving cream that got passed from male to male in the family for several years before SIL lost it in a move. I have no idea what the story was behind that one. DH once got a stocking from same SIL that was full of nothing but personal higiene items like deodorant and toothpaste.
