Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Yes I have bought eggs. He is a judge so give him some time. Did you message him on here?
Yes, I did message him on here this morning. I figured he may check ads sometime during the day and get it. I never trust emails to go through with the way some filters are. I imagine he's got his hands full with bird pens and egg packing also. So probably doesn't check in at his 'office' too often. Just hoping for a 'yep I got them' or 'no, sorry' pretty soon so I know if I need to go to plan B since these are for a broody hen.

I am really hoping I can make arrangements to pick them up instead of shipping, since he's only another hour or so drive past my Mom's place anyway... I can combine the trip... and bonus is getting a couple of giant bags of wood shavings from my Step Dad's wood shop for coop use!

That's why I'm so thankful I had the screen down. I know we'll have more issues with the wild birds when the chicks are moved outside, doesn't help that my neighbor (AKA Mom) loves feeding them and gets mad when we need to take the feeders down to keep the bears away.
Good to know. Now I'll be doubly sure the coop and run are as wild bird AND predator proof as possible.
I know our visits from wild birds quadrupled since getting the chickens. They used to avoid this place like the plague because of a couple of my cats, now they are willing to risk it because they want to grab up some of the scratch I throw out for the chickens.

does anyone know what testing and paperwork I would have to have to sell eggs at a local sat flea market....this is a local garden type market that runs all summer long on saturdays, alot of the elderly go to it, i think it would be a good market to hit for egg sales...
anyone know about meat sales, I was told year's ago that there's a different set of rules as far as you taking the meat off the farm and the consumr coming to you...

I tried looking on things like usda sites, but not understood they didn't dummy it down enough for rednecks like me.
You can always label them as hatching eggs & then no one can say anything at all because you aren't selling "food."

Quote: If you are using a gamebird, meatbird or all-flock style feed it should already be formulated with plenty of niacin for ducks. Just read your label for feeding recommendations & it will tell you what they recommend in their brand for ducklings.

I'm not having much luck finding a goose or two for my lone surviving goose, so figured I'd post again just in case! I'm in northern nj right by the poconos. I'm not picky about sex or breed and would be willing to purchase or adopt.

Let me know if you have any available or if you know anyone who might! Thanks so much! The living goose is very stressed about losing his friend so suddenly.
I have an extra toulousse gander who has not been doing his job with my hen. He got replaced yesterday by a younger, more vigorous model. He's pretty tame & friendly, but I can't give you an age on him for sure. PM me if interested.

Quail people...

Male?

700
Female?

Female?
Bottom 2 are definitely females because they have the pharoah coloring. The top 1 is not pharoah so will have to be sexed by vent at 5 weeks or after. Look for "foam" to come out of the vent when gently pressed from the tail side.

Anyone else have issues with wild birds trying to get into their house? I opened the window in the brood room to get some fresh air in, turn my back to mix the FF and I hear a weird chirping at the window. I turn around and there's 4 sparrows on the sill trying to get in (thank goodness I had the screen down) and my chicks were darn near screaming bloody murder. I know several are nesting near the window, they've been chasing my cats. I wonder if it was the smell from the feed or if it was the chirping from the chicks. Hmmm
Probably both.

Quote: If you can't find eggs for your broody girl let me know. I may have something you would like. I'm drowning in eggs again!!!!
Quote: I would, but I think the Chinese ones are so ugly.

I do not think selling them as hatching eggs would work, that would gross some people out... thought about saying,,,,you are buying the carton, eggs are a bonus

Love My Duckies!! The Cuckoo D'Anver chicks are adorable too, but won't stay still for a pic!!
we will certainly miss those little ones,,,but we all agreed that it was better to give them away to someone who has a place or them,,,they would of just gotten hurt here with all the big birds..
looks like the picture taker favors the black one, does it have a name yet ?
