Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Today was so cold that the water in my heated waterer froze. I know it wasn't broke because the water didn't freeze solid, but it still froze a good amount. But I didn't even let my chickens out til noon. At 6 am it was brutal out there, 4 degrees where I live with -15 degree wind chill. It wasn't much better at noon but I didn't want them locked in all day. One chicken was smart enough to break some of the ice to get to the water

They are both gorgeous!
We used to drive down to Cabelas all the time before gas prices went crazy. Get the kids off to school, go down to Cabelas, walk around for a bit then have lunch at the buffet and go home. My Mom and I are actually heading down to Reading tomorrow afternoon to drop off some sewing machines at the shop and take a walk through Vanity Fair. If they have to be picked up after your chicks hatch on the weekend I just might have to make a detour. I hate driving a distance for just one thing anymore with my pickup getting like 14 mpg on a good day. But chicks, sewing machines picked up from the shop, and lunch somewhere interesting might be a decent daytrip. Wouldn't even have to tell 'da Hubby. Once the chicks are here he'll be all grumpy on the outside. But I know he'll be peeking at them and playing with them when nobody's looking too. I learned a looooong time ago, ask and the answer's always no. Just bring it home, he'll growl a bit but then that's the end of it. ^_^
