Is anyone else concerned that it is so warm already? I see a heatwave devastating our crops and animals this summer. You can put a fan in a coop, but idk what to think about the plants.

I'm a little concerned. We had such an extreme winter and then suddenly, it's excessively hot for this time of year. I'm not sure what to make of it. I've already seen my flock panting while they're out free ranging. I had an ice cream bucket filled with water to go dump on the fire in the fire pit and I was swarmed by the birds. I got them their own bucket full after that.
Quakertown tractor supply had ten pekin left onsale $1!!!! I got 6 might still be those four left today!
Uh oh, I think Niko has gone broody.
Certain breeds are still selling really well, the past few weeks I have sold all the Ameraucanas I can hatch before they are dry, but I have a lot of extra BCM's and Olive Eggers. I'm not too concerned because it's warm enough they can go outside fairly young and both of those sex out quickly (compared to Ams with their pea combs). I really won't mind raising a few dozen extra pullets, if I can't sell them all, I would like to free range a bunch of them. I never need to "fire sale" them away like TSC does because I can raise and release them, and make more money (in the long run) than selling them for $1.
Last year, my most desperate customers contacted me right after "chick days" was over. They did the "right thing" and got their coop built first, but then when they went to TSC for chicks, there were none to be had. Anyone know when "chick days" ends this year? I should be prepared for that.

So far, if I push Niko off the nest area, she'll go outside but then she goes right back in. If I can't break the broody, could I give her some meat chick eggs? I really don't need any more layers even though I would love to have a real rainbow of birds. I think Niko saw my post about wanting to participate in chicken math. Who put the Internet in the coop?
Sure, I can always spare some eggs. Let her sit on some golf balls or wooden eggs for a few days to see if she's committed. I find that just putting them into a different coop breaks all my broodies (except for the cochin bantams and silkies).@dheltzel If my girl is truly going broody, can I buy a few eggs? I can return the chicks, if you like. I'll be returning some anyways! Haha.
