Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hi there! If you have any questions, this is a great place to ask them. Everybody's very helpful. FYI, smaller breeders or a feed store are usually happy to sell as few as six and it might be cheaper and safer than shipping so few. Just a thought, depending on what kind(s) you want to keep and when you want to get them. Welcome the the addictive world of poultry! Nice to meet you!
thanks Brightpennies.....I only live about 15 minutes from myers I have a message out for them about just going there to pick up some chicks. My girlfriend and I are looking at getting 2 barred rocks 2 speckled sussex I australorp and she want 1 pretty chicken so I am getting her a silver wyandotte. I think I can,do that they myers but won't be sure till I hear from them.

The splash you have on your site is beautiful. Pottstown is only an hour away. Do you ever sell your Ameraucana chicks sexed? I am one of those who absolutely can't have a boy. My neighbors would turn me in!

@TillyPeeps is right, you should consider this:

Even the little Ameraucana muffs are there, but she is only half Ameraucana. I make them with a Beautiful Black Ameraucana and California Gray pullets:

The lay lots of blue eggs and look like Black Ameraucanas (sorry, only black, other colors make the sexing not work).

I'm thinking of calling these "Pennsylvania Blacks", in the same vein that people have made up names like "Super Blue Egg Layer" and "Sapphires". I have some of these in out laying flock and love them. Last year they were immensely popular and I have gotten lots if reports back about how well that are doing.

I love Cream Legbars and have a tough time advising people about what blue egg layer is best. It great to be able to give them a choice. The hens look so different.

Omg it's good to see you're still actively breeding! I don't think I'll be diving into turkeys again as they really need more property then I have to give them (neighbors were not pleased about their new lawn ornaments), but I'll definitely be back into chickens. Will be focusing on Ameraucanas again but I might be interested in your wellies sometime in the future especially if their eggshell color is quality :) I'd love to hatch out some bbs olive eggers
Then I guess Peafowl would be out too?

If you had peas for a few months, they neighbors would be ever so grateful if you swapped them out for turkeys . . .

We should talk about the Ameraucanas, I am getting a bunch of very high quality chicks from John Blehm and should have extras. I'll let you know what I end up with.

The same book I fell on returning the chick, is the one she slipped on coming out of my room.
No, no poop. I checked repeatedly!
:lau Does one not see a book laying on the floor and avoid it?

One has a dog and toddler underfoot, and a very small dark hallway.
I think the question here is: Did you just admit to intentionally stepping on books?

HI all new here. I don't have Chicks yet hopefully will be ordering them on Monday from myer. I only want 6 and it is tough to find a,place that will deal in so few birds. Any advice for raising chickens in our great state would be great.

Welcome ! There are lots of nice and knowledged people here will help you. I'm a newbie myself. It was my original plan to get 4 chicks from Myers too, but I can't resist the great chicken breeds that dheltzel has. So I'm gonna drive 3 hours to pickup them in a couple days .

Thanks Auroradream26....I am not far from u,i,am in,Somerset County. About 10 minutes out of Jtown.

Hi Redwolf, Bucks County here. The biggest tip I have for you as a chicken owner is make your coop BIGGER than you think you will need it. You will want more chickens. I only wanted 3-4 to begin with since I am in the suburbs, but I now I have 8 and a turkey chick.... And I would have more if I had a bigger yard. Heed my warning! ;)
