@Auroradream26 ....
Remember fishing season is starting soon for us, which will mean weekly treks to Erie starting in may with only a couple weekend off. If anyone in the NW part of state want eggs or chicks we can deliver them for you anywhere along route.

Omg don't you dare offer :oops: I really can't have any more chickens.... but I am getting a bigger coop so there will be room for more.... but NO I CANT..... :barnie

Ok fellow Nwpa peeps when is it too cold for these chickies at night? I’ve heard and read so many things. Keep in mind they are mostly feathered and are currently house in a coop with nesting box blocked off as well as with 2 huge Cornish cross (these guys gotta be at least 6-7lbs right now lol). Monday night it is supposed to get down to 35. I was hoping to have my newest bunch of chickens in the smaller coop with the light and move these to a bigger coop. I haven’t yearned on the light in the smaller coop but once or twice since I’ve put them out. I check on them through the window and they haven’t seemed cold huddled together or anything light that. Always ready to go out in the morning. I’m curious because with putting the newest bunch out they will need the light for sure.at least until they get more feathers or the temps stop dropping...which who am I kidding it’s nwpa...they will need more feathers. Will the older chickies be ok in a bigger coop without the heat light if the temps are low of 35?

How old are the older chickens? And how young are the others? I always kept the young ones in the house until they were fully feathered, then put them in the coop with no heat lamp.
