Yep, remember one being flakey. We have had the "commitment shy" hens once in a while. We usually make sure to pair scatterbrained broodies with dependable ones, then if she flakes out the dependable one just continues on by herself and the chicks are still tended.I can’t believe it, but that broody broke. I didn’t look last night, but she’s been out since yesterday afternoon. Then again, do you remember the girl that didn’t stay until she had chicks last year? It might be her. I won’t be giving her chicks unless she parks like a normal broody.
My white standard does too. Hens as well. I recently got a year-old black female standard who thankfully is good (at least better--I doubt she would brood!)with chickens, and my Maltese is smaller than any of my hens and I swear, can't see them!I totally want a broody dog. My standard poodle thinks chicks are squeak toys.
The second baby popped out before midnight. I don’t see pips in the other three yet, but it’s definitely still early.
