Does my new chicken have a cold? What can I do about bugs?

To help with her runny nose you can try these steps...
Place a few drops of camphor oil in each nostril.
Squirt hydrogen peroxide diluted one half with water into the nostrils.
Oxine (2% chlorine dioxide)...you can spray the chicken...the housing etc with this ...it helps with respiratory issues...Good luck with her!

i actually had a 7month old roo (sick) last week, and where i live, we give them regular people flu medicine, people vitamins, greapfruit, mashed apple, and well wet feed, I live in roma tx, and actually have friends on Mexico that spend their life raising all kinds of poultry especially hens and roos, try it out i am pretty sure it will go away, or also try lemon tea, made with lemon leaves.

I know these remedies work on our chickens and chiks so give it a try.

Thank you all so much!
I got her some poultry vitamins and I will try the peroxide/water mix as well as the apples. I have apples and pears so that will be my breakfast and I'll make sure to put some in the food processer for her and put a little w/her crumbles.
I don't want to do antibiotics unless it is the last resort.

Hi, please read the article I compiled, it is on my BYC page. Let "colds" run their course until a secondary infection pops up. Keep your birds healthy and less stress, such as new flock mates, fairs, shows etc, and they are fine.
