German Shepherd puppy - your opinion on ears standing up

I did LOL But the problem is the woman lived across the street from us and raised and did agility with Shelties for 40 years and has two rescue ones now. This woman would come out to the fence every time I took Luke for a walk and tell me what a shame it was I didn't know what I was doing. And kept telling me to come in so she could stick his ears down, and it was just shameful how irresponsible some people are for not caring for their dogs. She was just an old cranky controlling woman. I always just smiled and said no thanks, I like him the way he is and kept walking.

You should tell the woman across the street that you DID do something for Luke's ears, you stuck and wrapped stuff to make those ears stand up! LOL

White boxers can compete in any AKC event except conformation which the dog is judged as breeding stock.
The AKC adopts it's breed standards from the breed parent club. The Boxer club frowns on white boxers due to increased risk with deafness associated with the gene producing white boxers therefore do not find them acceptable to be used for breeding. Personally, I think they can be attractive but understand the standing of the club on this issue. As an additional note- it used to be quite common to cull white puppies at birth. Now, responsible breeders place the white pups in pet homes and spay/neuter the parent identified as the carrier of the genetics that throw white pups. While the white pups can be very pretty, it is very difficult to find good homes for a litter of deaf dogs.

I am not planning on breeding the white one - she is going to be a couch potatoe LOL the person giving her to me happens to be a good friend and he knows that I have been wanting a white for awhile and when this one was born on thanksgiving and with the first snow fall he thought there must be something speacil about her - so she will be my christmas gift from him and his wife. I have not been breeding my boxers for long so am still learning all the things I need to know - if whites are able to compete I will look for something she is good at. right now she is only 3 weeks old - we are going to have her hearing tested when she comes to live with us. there was also a white male with brindle patches over both eyes in the same litter.

thank you for the info on white boxers. ( sorry for taking this thread on a side trip LOL )

Hi all. I'm new to this forum, but have been reading it for awhile. I thought I'd post first on this thread, because I raised and trained German Shepherds for over 10 years, and I'd be happy to help anyone who has questions about the breed or dog training. We're working on building our coop this winter to be ready for birds in the early spring. I'm sure I'll need tons of help and advice, so I hope y'all will be patient with me. Thanks for your time!

My DH and I used to own a white (with brown spots) boxer named Harley. She was the best, smartest and greated freind one could ever own. Someday we will get another Boxer and regarless of what anyone says, we want another white (with brown spots boxer) deaf or not. And she can have floppy ears if that is the way she was intended to be just like Harley.
