I could SPIT NAILS right now! I'm in my living room cleaning up and my dog starts barking his head off (he's in the back yard). I walk to the front door thinking that someone is driving down the driveway. Instead I see a young deer walking through my front woods and towards my driveway. I open up the door to get a better look and I hear "There it is" I turn to look into the woods towards this voice just in time to see a man raise his rifle and shoot...RIGHT AT MY FREAKIN HOUSE!!!!!!

I of course get made as hell right away. I start streaming words at him that even at 25 years old my momma would slap the taste out of my mouth for saying. He just starts walking through the woods.

I call the sheriff and they say oh you have to call 911. I call 911 and after about 15 minutes a cop comes up. I tell him what happened and even tell him that I'm pretty sure where the guy LIVES but all he does is drive up and down the road and then leaves.

WHAT TYPE OF MORON SHOOTS AT SOMEONE'S HOUSE?????

And here's the best part...the idiot shoot at the deer with a 22 rifle from 100 yards away with about 400 trees that the bullet would have hit before even touching the deer.

The only thing I could think of was, if my dog my cats or my chickens had gotten shot...my gun is way bigger than his.

All I have to say is WOW. Good for you for calling the cops, and letting them know where he lives, or where you think he lives at least. That was stupidity on his part, and it is people like that, that give hunters a bad name. Oh yeah, and a 22... that would just injure the dear.

Trish: I would go into the Sheriff's or police office and file an official complaint. Then they have to pay attention.
That is just the most stupid thing and he should not get away with it!!!!

Report this to your State DNR(Department of Nat.Rescouces)
Game warden what ever you guys call it there.
Here in Wisconsin they have more power than the police.
They can enter your house with no warrant even.
They will get him good. They will be interested in poaching,
which is what he is doing if he is using a 22.

Oy Trisha, I can relate. I regularly yell at guys with guns, sometime walking up my driveway to get to the gameland behind our house. The game commission is at the other end of the county.

Once a gun even went off at the end of our drive at 4:30 AM on the first day of hunting season. I figured it was a misfire, but wanted to be sure & I wasn't going out there in case it wasn't. I called the cops & the dispatcher said they wouldn't send the cops out "because it was dark." I muttered something about paying taxes and their salary. They called back about 15 minutes later to say they'd send a cop out, but asked me if they needed to stop at my house, or it they could just drive by. I said they could just drive by, but they wouldn't see anything "because it was dark!"

Good luck!

oooooooooooo i'd be mad as a hornet too. is it deer season where you are? if not i'd report him to fish and wildlife too. my boss lives out in the country, part of a larger family farm and last year, his uncle gave someone permission to hunt in the back 40, well goober must have gotten too close to boss's house, b/c a bullet went thru his kitchen and lodged in his cabinet. he was soooooooooooo ticked off. anyone could have been in there at the time.

people are STUPID.

there is a hunting reserve out in back of where i live and it stretches over to the road i drive to get home. the other day 2 dudes were pheasant hunting right up by the road, one cocked his gun, and whipped around to shoot the bird, RIGHT AT THE ROAD. thank god he saw me at the last second or he would have blasted right thru my vehicle.

it amazes me what people will do. i'm all for 2nd amendment rights and all but i think some sort of IQ test should be involved.

First post NO TRESPASSING signs on the perimeter of your property if you haven't already. No Hunting signs basically tell them you do have deer, but they can't shoot. No Trespassing is broader. My entire property is posted and I will enforce it. I have nothing against hunting, but I do have something against being shot when I'm taking a walk in my own woods.
