Ringneck Pheasants- post your pics or questions.

So many awesome ringnecks on here! Some of my birds below :D Can anyone tell me the mode of inheritance for the white mutation ringneck?

Mutant hen

Platinum hen

Mutant cock

Cinnamon hen

White hen

White cock

My first ever white chicks hatched today!! :D The whites in Australia have a buff wash through them and some buff feathers down the sides, is it the same with whites over there?

Bemba, where did you get your whites from? I've been after some for a while but you rarely see them advertised here in Australia! I'm located in SA and would greatly appreciate any info on where I could obtain some :) Thanks in advance.

No such mut as Platinum in oz its a cross or hybid. Heaps of whites in oz and none have a "buff wash" as you say yours must be crossed or hybrid?

I've never heard of platinums in OZ either Colescreek. I've seen the whites (unsure if they had buff on them though). I didnt look close enough! I was just surprised to see whites!

Yeh no such colour as platinum. I have seen a few whites and none had any 'buff' on them thats a cross or hybrid. There was 2 pairs of whites auctioned in melbourne in 2013 both pairs where as white as a ghost but they were the true mutation and not crosses

The good birds are always interstate... i may need to move states i think! Do you know what the whites went for at auction? I doubt it would have been cheap!

Platinums are simply a colour combination of cinnamon and melanistic, Just like how a silver Guinea fowl are a combination of recessive red eyed cinnamon and recessive lavender The white ringnecks are sex linked and yes they do have the faint buff markings..... The Guide to Pheasants and Waterfowl has pictures and info on them and they state that's the norm..

No such colour as platinum. The silver guinea fowl is bred from sex linked cinnamon and no lavender involved as its just a feather pattern. No buff at all in true white pheasants I have seen many of them.
