I was wondering if there is a list somewhere on BYC that has a list of flowers that are ok for your ducks to eat. If there is then please let me know.

I know there is a list of plants that are not good for dogs to eat but I don't know if those apply to ducks or not.

It is that time of year when the kids and I are going to start planting our spring flowers and bulbs. I bought some freesias and I don't know if they are harmful or not. All of my flower beds have little fences around them so it isn't like my ducks are going to be able to eat all of the plants but anything that grows over the fences is fair game. So does anyone have a list or more knowledge then me on this? I think ducks have a general idea of what is good for them and what is not, they may sample things but I think they can tell if they should eat it or not.

Maybe we can make a list

Good flowers: (nothing is treated with pesticides or fertilizers) my ducks have eaten
roses
hybiscus
passion flower vine's flowers
desert primrose flowers
zinnias
honeysuckle vine & flowers
strawberry fruit flowers
pepper plant flowers
tomatoe plant flowers
cantalope flowers
marigold
chamomile
dandelions
nasturtiums

Bad flowers: (that I know of)
day lillies
yellow jasmine vine, vine and flowers
desert primrose follage
morning glory vine's seeds
ivy vines
milkweed

*plants I don't know but would like to now
freesias
geraniums
gladiolas

I think I read a list for chickens like this but can't find it

I know it's already on the list but both our chickens and ducks assault our honeysuckle.

Bad one for them (well for anything in general except monarchs): Milkweed. Good thing the closest one to my birds is on the other side of my house.
