Hi, All.
DH thought I should post this 'cause the outcome was a miracle to us!
DH called me at work yesterday afternoon - in a panic - said a dog had gotten into the chicken run (we've been working on a much more secure run but it's taking a while) and that Dolores, our Ameraucana, was missing and that the other chickens were hiding behind their nest boxes, totally freaked out. He told me he found 2 piles of feathers. I said: I'm coming home. On the way home I was saying my prayers but also bearing in mind the most likely outcomes. Something told me to drive around the block and see what I could see before going home. I saw a neighbor in his garage so stopped and asked him. He said he "saw a chicken running in front of a dog" a while ago and indicated they had run past his house. I asked the other neighbors on that block but no one else had seen anything. Went home to change clothes to prepare to look for her on foot. It was cold and rainy. Then DH came in from his fruitless trip around the block - he was so sad - he was looking for a body at this point. What the neighbor said gave him new hope though. We drove back over to the neighbor to get a better idea of which direction the chicken and dog were running and the neighbor said: I have something for you! and it was our beautiful Dolores! Missing a bunch of fluffy butt feathers, but otherwise unharmed! Thank you, God!
