Hi all! There's this friend of my family who we were going to get a few baby goats from. One of the goats that was going to have twins got hurt and had to go to the vet. That was a few days ago. Today the lady who owns them went out to feed and found 2 dead baby goats lying in the dirt. We think that something that the vet gave the goat when she got hurt made the babies be born before they were ready. But the only thing that the vet gave her was some penicilin. Has anyone ever heard of penicilin being bad for pregnate goats? Thanks for reading.

Sorry for your loss, hope the mother goat is ok from this.

If it was just penicillin, I doubt that is what caused it, as it is just an antibiotic. I bet it was the stress of getting hurt, the stress of going to the vet, and the stress of being pregnant while hurt at the same time that induced labor too early.

Like in humans, an antibiotic or non labor inducing medicine shouldn't induce labor, but being in a car accident may.

Another possibility is that the goat got hurt in such a way that it caused the miscarriage. Since I don't know how far along the goat was or what the nature of the injury was, it could be that too and it's hard to speculate.

I agree. Whatever the injury was that she had to go to the vet for and the stress involved probably caused the abortion or maybe even injured the babies.
I have the opposite situation, 2 live babies and a dead mamma!
