HELP! Do my chickens have lice?

((How do I treat this, I usually use the powder on them every month, sprinkling it on them, the nesting boxes and around the floor. Also can people get them? I would really appreciate the help with this, my poor girls look so pitiful

What kind of powder are you talking about putting in the coop? I've used DE and have never had any bugs at all.

Yup them are sticktight fleas!! Have had problems here in the past.
Asked my vet and they had no clue what I was talking about.

The olive oil works wonders, I have learned to do it late after the hens go to bed so their is no resistance. It suffocates the fleas.
I dust nest boxes with DE. I also use Permethrin spray on birds and pen, as well as Martins IG regulator on the pen only.

These are nasty buggers, they will also attach to your other pets, husband and children. But if you hit them hard you can get rid of them.

those are stick tight fleas.they get on chickens faces and cats ears and eyes.
look it up on the internet

If they were my birds I would have used a fipronil dog spot treatment for fleas. 4 drops for large fowl and 3 for bantams. Eggs would need to be discarded for 1 month because this is a monthly flea treatment.

It works wonderfully for mites too and will kill all mites which hatch for 1 month, meaning no retreatment needed since it breaks the life cycle.

Since it's for fleas it should work for cases like this too. If you have an aversion to chemicals, then obviously this wont work for you. But if you have heavy infestations of mites or fleas, anything which feeds off of blood supply, and need it gone fast, then this is a good treatment. Some internet reading said it could cause fertility issues, but I did use this on my chickens for heavy mite infestation(6 months ago) and I'm hatching eggs just fine.

Yep just posted a question about this and thought they might be mites, but no this is exactly my problem. I assume now the Eprinex is no good?
