Well lets see, I don't know much but here goes...lol

They come in standard and bantam

Very cold hardy

Mine are very mellow (3 light brahma hens)

Took a little longer to mature

Colors :: Light, dark, buff ~ which seems to be really popular right now. I saw some pics on a European board of blue...simply gorgeous.

Mine are good layers of nice sized eggs. They handle the heat and cold well. Hens are quiet. Large birds, hens weight around 9lbs, roos around 11lbs. Lights are the largest. I have dark brahmas and they are one of my favorites. The darks are about a pound lighter than the lights. The only time mine stopped laying was during their molt.

Saw a partridge brahma on the American Brahma Club's website. I know that's not a standard color, but he sure was purty.
I'm getting all three...light, dark, and buff in April. There is a thread where brahmamama posted pics of her buff brahma roo. An absolutely gorgeous roo.

Why thank you, gritsar, I will have to give Rudy the comment...speaking of, I've been meaning to get a better "outside" picture of him.

I stumbled upon Brahmas-almost literally, lol! I walked into our farm supply store during chick days last spring, and ended up walking out with the last 13 chicks they had. I had been wanting to get chickens for a few years, and we were more prepared last spring, so we went for it. Several of those chickens were buff Brahmas, and there were two of the little buff hens I still have, along with my one speckled sussex girl.

I still have two buff brahma hens (almost hens, I guess-not quite a year old) and one big roo left, and he is a big boy! So calm and well mannered though. I did have another roo, that was a bit more agressive, but nothing terrible to deal with. On my summer order last year, I ordered 10 light brahma pullets; I just love them to death, sweetest girls I have! My spring order this year has some more brahmas- 4 dark and 2 more buff pullets. I don't need any more roos, but would love to see a dark and a light roo, if they are as handsome as my buff boy.

They were so calm & sweet I got a couple of Bantam Buff Brahmas
One day I want Dark Brahmas!!!

I'm gonna be real curious to see the color combinations I get if my buff and dark roos fertilize eggs from a hen of a different color.

The six chicks I hatched out this past weekend are buff brahma crossed with who knows I *think* one of the chicks may be pure buff brahma, one of them is a golden spangled hamburg, one may be a EE mix (my one EE roo must have snuck a chance with a girl before Rudy saw)-he's the only all black, and that includes his legs/feet and beak! The other three are probably a mix of Rudy (buff brahma roo) and light or buff brahmas, or white rocks. I can't wait to see them feathered out

One of my Brahma roos is of a non-standard color that I really like. I cann't wait to see what colors he produces. I wish I had some Buff Brahma hens for him. Any guesses as to what color to call him? Here's a picture of him:


I also have a Dark roo that I'm going to put with my 3 dark hens and my black brahma hen.
