Wow, this sure is scary...

This just happened in the high school I graduated from. My brother still goes there. I'm glad something is being done about it, but still I wonder how safe the school actually is. This isn't the first time this stuff has happened. When I went there, a boy made a list of people he wished to kill and wrote a poem about how much he enjoyed death. The poem was handed to a gym teacher and that teacher never said a word. When I mentioned the list I had seen to administrators, nothing was ever done about it.

Mind you, this school is out in the country, basically the middle of no where. It's one of those places you feel something like this could never happen.

wow I have been questioned by police many times about guns in school.

Sometimes people write poems like that. It's a good way to get out anger and works for me. But listing people you want to kill....

I remember in hs, we had to take surveys about guns in the school and so on... they asked the student body and picked students to try to nip things in the bud, so being questioned wasn't necessarily a "bad thing."

I know people like to write about stuff like that, but it should be kept to themselves IMO. Personally, when the teacher received that poem, it should have sent up a major red flag!

I try never to write down things that could be found by others and questioned. Once it is down on paper, you can't deny writing it. I've been approached before by a teacher about a "questionable" story. (The story was about a girl who was sad and spent her time with pet snakes because she felt she could relate to them better than people). I really meant nothing by it (and the girl was NOT me. I don't even have snakes), I was just being creative. My parents agreed with me, but I realized others may have completely different outlooks on things. I guess the teacher just thought I was depressed or something, but she completely blew things out of proportion. My parents had to laugh when they read the story because they saw nothing wrong with it. This was many years ago now, and I learned my lesson. Nothing ever came out of the situation luckily, but I was pretty embarrassed.

It's strange, because in college, writing teachers encourage you to write about your feelings, etc. I always have a hard time doing that.

Anyways, just keep the people in BHS in your thoughts and prayers! I hope nothing ever happens.

Welcome to my world. I work at an alternative high school that deals with these kids after they have been found with weapons on campus.

I have one student that has just been released from jail. Has to be on psychotropic drugs just to "function" in a school environment.

43 that have their ankle bracelet batteries changed at school.

16 currently sitting in either juvenile or adult jail awaiting sentencing. 3 for murder.

4 others are pushing up daisies.

But you know what? I am in the safest school in the entire school system! Everyone of our students are run through a metal detector every day.

This is what our education system is coming too.

Dang, that IS scary!

And the sad thing is, where does many school gun violence reports happen? In gun free zones. The stories you don't hear are the places where guns saved lives or reduced what could have been a tragedy.

In the past quarter, there have been multiple muggings on or near campus, and a hold up with a gun involved. And those are just what we are told about via email notifications.
