Thanks everyone. I'm in love with those Dominiques. Every time I go out there, they get more personable. Tonight, one ate out of my hand and then kept hopping in it. My Delawares are getting there. But those EE's, they're pansies.

so are you feeding them grit too? do you need to with egg? i would assume so right?

i've got a weak one that i'd like to perk up with something but i have no grit so the only thing i've tried is a little sugar water.

I fed mine scrambled eggs for a few days without grit. Everyone made it.

I do recommend getting grit soon, but if you have a weak chick, scrambled eggs and no grit will work short term. Make sure the eggs are cooled.

also, i'm planning on getting grit soon in the form of dirt/sand from my yard. there is definitely tons of it. however, it also possibly has cocci in it and i wanted them to be a week old before i started exposing them. my ladies are on non medicated feed. so yeah.

I fed my chicks a mashed hard boiled egg today and they did like it but didn't finish it. I had read that it was great for them. Anyway then my neighbour said that this is not a good idea as because then they get a taste for it and then when they start laying if an egg accidentally breaks they could start eating their own eggs. It sounds crazy and I'm pretty sure it's not true.... But?
