Phallus Prostration (male prolapse) - HELP!

@Kimmyh51, can you post some pictures of his penis?
Hi I totally meant to take photos today but totally forgot

What I can tell you is that I am sure it is infected. And hoping you can advise what antibiotics would be most effective given he’s been on tylosin a few days.

I had a second go at putting it back in earlier today and got it back in (with a lot of lube, an ice cold wipe, not to mention embarrassment and mental discomfort on both sides!)

Unfortunately it was back out when I checked a few hours later. I tried to put it back in again, and - whether it was because I had just watched a video on someone treating this who had discovered a cut on their drakes phallus - that I noticed it now and not before, or whether the skin split in between the last time putting things back inside, and the most recent attempt I don’t know....

But anyway about half way down his appendage the skin has split open for about half a centimetre, and there is a similar cheesy caseous exudate as what you see in a bumblefoot inside under the skin. I can also see what appears to be the same yellow cheesy stuff further up towards the base under the skin. So am sure it is infected...however I know that the way the immune system in birds walls off infection and creates this cheesy yellow exudate might also mean that systemic antibiotics won’t be able to get to the area of infection?

If that is the case, is there anything that can be done like lancing and putting topical antibiotics on? And if so is this going to be inhumanely painful if I attempted it with local anaesthetic (Emla topical 5% which contains two locals and is left under plastic for an hr - used it to lance an infected finger on myself and it definitely numbed that up, I couldn’t feel a thing in an area that hurt like hell prior to the emla)

I’m guessing infection is the reason it’s swollen and not able to be put back in easily or stay back in? I have just enough augmenton for a short course, so tonight after my unsuccessful fiddling, I gave the poor wee lad a dose of this and sent him back outside.

I was thinking chloramphenicol ointment might be worth rubbing into the area where the skin is split? Have had good success with this for a skin infection in the past, and it’s available over the counter here so I could get some tomorrow. I have rubbed iodine ointment into the area tonight and covered the whole thing in a mix of water based lube and the iodine wound ointment.

Hoping you could advise whether in your experience the bacteria in the poor wee lads appendage is likely to be susceptible to augmenton, and/or chloramphenicol ointment, also whether the tylosin would normally be likely to be effective against the bacteria commonly seen in this sort of thing?
And if none of the above are likely to be effective, which antibiotics might be?

On the good side there is no sign of necrosis so far, so I am hoping if the infection can be dealt with then the prolapse will resolve soon after?
