Hello,
I am so glad this topic is here. We are new to the chicken raising family and are having quite a time identifying the birds we got. Please forgive us, we did buy from a hatchery and got an assortment of rare/exotic birds. Now that we have been around the birds more and searched the web, we'll probably take a different approach next time. Anyway, we have 19 chickens and 3 guineas on our 'farm' now. They are really pets now and the kids just love them. My daughter listens to them from the house and says: I think they're laying, I've gotta go watch! (She's 7 and such a quick egg gatherer, the girls are still resting from the egg drop.) Anyway, here is our questionable chicken. It seems to be growing spurs, but it's not crowing. We do have another rooster who is twice the size of this little one, do you think it's too scared to crow? I'm hoping it's just a hen with spurs. Can someone help? Thanks! As far as size goes, this bird is about the same size as our Golden Penciled Hamburg.
