Next color. Beginners do not need to worry about color the firest year or two. These birds have very good color and you can work on that after you figure how to breed for type.

Here is a recent pic of the cockeral standing by the one gallon waterer which is on a 4 x 4 chunk of wood. He is so long legged that my in laws think he looks funny when he runs. At first they thought something was wrong with him.

I don't have my breeding pens setup and with the heat we have had I'm glad. I am selling trios this fall if anybody is interested. Will have eggs and chicks for sell in the spring of 2012. Just let me know.

These are my barred rocks from Jeremy in Nebraska. They are about 4 months old in these pictures. Can someone please critique these and give any feedback you may have. This was about 2 weeks ago and I hope to get some better pictures of them soon.

Took me all day to read through this thread, but I enjoyed it.

I have emailed Jeremy and I'm hoping to get some eggs/chicks/adults from him in the fall if he has any available.

The female in the front looks a little longer and thats what I like in a pullet. When they molt to be hens if they are short ass pullets the female looks short in body like a wyandotte. This means nothing to you folks who just want to raise chickens for yourself to look at. As a breeder who is trying to improve their strain its important. If you look at the picture of the standard of perfection mostly the black and white ones from the apa standard these birds are not cockerels and pullets. They are molted mature cock birds and hens. Many people are fooled buy this and then when you look at thier birds as hens and old males they are short in body. This is just a secret from the past that I was told to tell you some day.

Great strain of chickens. Dont bother Frank Reese about eggs or chicks. He does not have time to fool with us. He is to busy breeding his birds. Thank goodness Jermie got some and this is the guy you bother and Kathy. bob
