Does safeguard kill gape worms? Don't mean to take this from you; but I have used wazine and Ivermectin. Can my hens still have gape worms? I saw one with a pale comb sort of gape the other day. I am watching it. Gloria Jean

ddawn - several are molting now, but I've not been getting eggs all summer. 4 or 5 months, and only 1 egg a day. The molting and shorter days only started in the last month or so.
I'm going to try the worming and even though I likely won't see eggs since it's fall -- at least they'll be fit for spring. Is there a routine time to worm them, say every two months or so??

I have 1 hen out of 20 who is gasping, weesing for a few weeks now but it would pass I finally posted a video and everyone seems to think its gape worm but I'm gonna do Qtip test in the morning but if it is do I treat everyone for it or just her??? Abd can I go ahead a worm with wazine or wait? They range from 3monthes to 7 years..I've had pretty good luck with my chickens the past years but this years is making up for it:-( I don't have a vet here to help me figure this out....

e a 1 month old chick that a end brought to me today who is doing a lot of open-mouthed breathing, some sneezing and is lethargic. I assumed URI so I stated her on amoxi and Vet Rx....now I am reading about this gapeworm thing. She is so small, I would be afraid to put a q-tip down her throat..... What kills gapeworm???? And how likely is she to have this when she was in a brooder all this time?
