When is breeding season for ducks??

Drakes have been known to injure and kill ducklings so the drakes should have their own enclousure when hatching begin. Also mama ducks don't relish having other females around their ducklings and they can injure ducklings too if one strays too far from mama. Once ducklings are around 3-4 weeks old and the drakes have seen them through fencing you can try letting them be all together but I wouldn't do it if they are all kept in a pen where the ducklings won't be able to keep away from the drakes.

wow. All currently in one big pen; about 2500 sq ft. I let them out to free range during the day, when I'm here. If i try to divide the pen at this point will it stress the broody girls and cause them to abandon their eggs?

I think I'd chance it because I would feel better if they were mine and knew the drakes weren't in with the new ducklings. Are they in a secluded area? i can't see them leaving there eggs unless you have to put up fencing close to them. Mine are usually stuck like glue when brooding. I use plastic poultry fencing to divide with thise fiber glass fence posts that are easy to push into the ground.

duck yard succesfully divided! Girls didnt seem bothered at all.
Now just waiting for the ducklings to arrive

I have lost four of my six ducks overnight (3 girls and a boy) one of each left. This is the first time any have disappeared as they have been free roaming around the garden area of our section. Ave the girls gone to lay? (It is autumn here in New Zealand) or have they been napped or predated (I'm considering humans at this point too as hawks don't fly at night and there aren't large wild predators here). Fingers crossed they are laying
